CCTV appeal as man dies two weeks after attack in south London
A man died almost two weeks after he was punched and stamped on in south London, police said today.
Simon Whisker, 40, was taken to hospital after a fight with four males in London Road, Croydon on Wednesday, July 1 at 1.30am.
After receiving treatment he was discharged, but returned to hospital on Monday, July 13, where he died.
Scotland Yard today released CCTV of four men they want to speak with in connection with the assault.
Officers stressed they were not treating the investigation as a murder enquiry.
Mr Whisker’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers while police await the results of a post-mortem examination, officers said.
Detective Constable Jo Cheung, from the South Area CID, said: “The victim became involved in an altercation with a group of males and was viciously assaulted.
“We are not treating this as a murder inquiry at this time. We just want to find out who was responsible for the attack on Simon.
“I am asking the public to contact us if they recognise any of these males.”
